ANNEXURE
The scope of registration of the above-mentioned Statutory Council has, in terms of section 58(1) of the Act been varied. With effect from ....... 19 August 2024 ....... the statutory council is registered for the Statutory Council for the Squid and Related Fisheries of South Africa, as defined hereunder, in the Republic of South Africa.
The intention of the application can be set out as follows:
The scope of The Statutory Council for the Squid and Other Fisheries of South Africa is as follows:
Squid fishing by means of the jigging fishing method as well as those fishing industries involved with inshore harvesting of fish species from fishing vessels at sea. Which also includes:
• | The maintenance personnel who are responsible for keeping the vessels and ancillary equipment in a sea going and serviceable condition |
• | The administrative (office) personnel who are responsible for the administrative function. |
• | The factory-based personnel who are responsible for the handling of squid and other fish species on land in the land-based processing establishments. |
The specific character of the fishing sectors which it is intended to be included , are the fisheries mainly involved in the inshore harvesting of fish species. Inshore fishing means fishing which is predominantly conducted insight of land with a depth of sea water +/- 90 meters, up +/- 20 km from land. The fishing sectors include hake long line, small and pelagic fishing (pilchards, anchovy and tuna) and rock lobster.

Fishing within the geographical area of the South African Coast Line which includes the entire Kwa-Zulu Natal Coast in the East to the Northern Cape Coast in the West, which includes the entire Eastern Cape as well as the Western Cape Coast Lines
