8. Appointment of chief executive officer and other staff members of council

(1) The council
(a) must appoint a chief executive officer; and
(b) may employ such other staff members as it may deem necessary for carrying out its functions,

on such conditions, including the payment of remuneration and allowances, as it may determine, and may dismiss any person so appointed.

 

(2) The chief executive officer must enter into a performance agreement, as prescribed, with the council on acceptance of his or her appointment.

 

(3) The chief executive officer must perform, in addition to such functions as may otherwise be assigned to him or her by or under this Act, such functions as may from time to time be assigned to him or her by the council.
