(1) | An applicant for the issuing of an class rating by name for gliders shall have passed the appropriate written examination as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 68. |
(2) | Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1), the applicant with extensive experience, who is the holder of a pilot licence issued in terms of Part 61 or Part 62 endorsed with the categories weight shift controlled microlight aeroplane, conventionally controlled microlight aeroplane, gyroplane, light sport aeroplane or touring motor glider may be given credit for any theoretical examination at the discretion of the testing instructor. |
(3) | Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (2), the applicant who is the holder of a national pilot licence endorsed for the category weight shift controlled microlight aeroplane or gyroplane must write "principles of flight". |
