(1) | An approach control (surveillance) rating that has expired may be renewed no later than 24 months after the expiry of such rating subject to the successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating that the skills referred to in regulation 65.11.2 have been retained or re-acquired. |
(2) | The Director may re-issue an approach control (surveillance) rating on application by the holder thereof after a period of 24 months has elapsed from the date of expiry provided that the holder thereof— |
(a) | attends refresher training; |
(b) | attends augmentation training on advances or developments in the ATM systems; and |
(c) | has achieved a minimum of 70% pass mark in simulated applicable assessments determined by a validation examiner as indicated in technical standard 65.11.2(7) in Document SA-CATS 65. |
(3) | Upon application for the renewal of an expired rating referred to in subregulation (2), the Director shall renew the rating if the applicant complies with the requirements referred to in subregulation (1) or (2). |
(4) | The provisions of regulation 65.11.3 shall apply with the necessary changes to an application referred to in subregulation (1). |
